We at the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom are committed to a world without inequality and oppression. We recognise that inequality and oppression exist on many different levels and can take many different forms both obvious and hidden.

Our organisation is composed of individuals from different cultural, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds. We recognize that barriers to realizing that we are all fundamentally interconnected exist not only in the human mind, but are also deeply embedded within institutions and structures around the world. Our commitment to dismantling inequality and oppression in all its forms begins with us.

By having compassion for ourselves and for each other, we can begin to recognize, challenge and transform our language, actions and assumptions that may be creating apathy, inequality and injustice.

We believe that education, wise action, and a strong compassionate attitude have transformative power – for individuals, for society and for our planet. No-one should feel marginalised, disadvantaged or unsafe due to their ethnicity, gender, religion or beliefs. We are working hard towards creating that world. Every day.

Our Patron, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said:

Each one of us must learn to work not just for oneself, one’s own family or nation, but for the benefit of humankind.
Universal responsibility is the key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace.
