Big Love Summit 2022

  • Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom London United Kingdom (map)

This year’s Big Love Summit promises to be another exciting event! Our speakers are now confirmed and we are planning to offer as many of the sessions as possible in French, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.

Join us for inspirational discussions, helpful insights and guided meditations exploring four themes: love, compassion, joy and equanimity.

Love
We can think of love as the wish to be happy but what does happiness mean? How do we define happiness and where does it come from? How can we learn to be fully present in a world that constantly pulls us into “busyness” and distractions? One method is to practice full embodiment so that our awareness can expand and deepen. When pain arises, self-love and self-forgiveness are essential on our journey to becoming whole. Gradually we can strengthen and expand this feeling of love to include others.

Compassion
Cultivating compassion brings meaning into our lives and makes us feel more connected with others. To experience compassion we need to be present with our painful emotions, can we do this? Is it possible to transform painful external happenings around the world into fuel for our compassion to grow? Compassion can fuel our courage during these challenging times and lead us to take action. We look at the different ways people have found for putting compassion into action.

Joy
What happens when we lose our joy? How can we replenish and feel renewed? We look at ways of rediscovering our purpose, feeling hopeful about our future and grateful for where we are, so we can bring more joy into our lives and those around us. We look at ways to feel happy about the good fortunes of others instead of feeling jealousy.

Equanimity
Equanimity as stability of the heart: Recognizing the peace of even-minded acceptance, I aspire to let sickness and health, blame and praise, failure and accomplishment flow through my awareness without getting distracted by them” - Ajahn Sucitto

His Holiness speaks of 7 billion brothers and sisters on this planet. We are all connected yet more and more people feel lonely and isolated. We are all a human family who need warmth and contact. But do we really feel this? What biases, assumptions and judgements do we make that separate us from one another. How can we challenge these and live with the biases and judgements of others?  How do we learn to care for others and expand our heart more and more to embody Big Love?
